The Griswolds are alive and well

Filed under christmas, fun stuff, funny, tacky

[Daily Mail]

His Yuletide extravaganza had so annoyed them that, after enduring 18 years of his yo-ho-ho antics, they could take no more and protested to the council and police about the disruption it caused to their lives when coachloads of visitors turned up to admire it.

They complained their lives were being made a misery by people shouting, and that petty crime in the road had soared because of the influx of visitors.

Some even claimed they were forced to take sleeping pills to blank out the disturbances.

As a result, Mr Moszczynski, whose lights have raised £55,000 for charity, had a court injunction served on him last year forcing him to scale down his decorations to 300 lights, four 7ft tall inflatable cartoon characters, eight 30-ft strips of rope lighting and two light moulds in the ground in his front garden.

I’m sure Clark Griswold would be jealous.

Is this the way some see Jesus?

GOD-JESUS was a 1980s toy sold in Japan, made by Bandai. The toy is in the form of a robot brandishing a Christian cross. The toy was asked a question and would give an answer in a similar way to a Magic 8-ball.

Read about it here.

[From me]

Wow! I would imagine this is the way some people think Jesus works. You ask him a question and he gives you what you want just like the magic 8 ball. Where do people come up with this stuff?

What do you think?

MTV to Air Controversial Bisexual Dating Reality Series

[Christian Post]

MTV has given the green light for a new reality show starring a bisexual woman dubbed “the Madonna of MySpace.”

“A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila” is another dating competition series but with a controversial twist. The competitors vying for internet sensation Tila Tequila, a 25-year-old entertainer whose real last name is Nguyen, are 16 straight men and 16 lesbians. The 32 “suitors” will live in Tila’s house and compete to impress her as the competition narrows each week.

The bisexual dating show is a first for a network that doesn’t specifically target the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) crowd. It’s slated to premiere Oct. 9.

MTV is one of the most watched networks by teens and its staggering levels sexual imagery, foul language and violence already have parents and evangelicals concerned.

{Begin rant}

What can I say…When MTV first came out in the early 1980’s it was just about the music. It was music that my generation listened to and now could watch. When I was in a Frat in college we would sit around and watch Martha Quinn and the other VJ’s. Then they started doing TV shows like Remote Control and then it just got sleezy! Last I heard they don’t even play videos anymore. I haven’t watched MTV in at least 15 years. It is blocked at my house even from me. There is nothing, I mean nothing good that a follower of Jesus could get from any of their liberal, trashy programing. Uggh!

{End of rant}

What do you think?

Progressive? Insurance invaded church members’ private sessions

[AJC]

When a new couple arrived at Southside Christian Fellowship Church in August 2005, members welcomed them with open arms. Soon, the new couple talked their way into private group support sessions in the Stockbridge home of church member Ken King.

During the private talks, church members confessed abortions, sexual orientation issues, drug addictions and other dark secrets.

No one knew the couple wasn’t actually interested in joining the church. Instead, they were private investigators hoping two church members, Bill and Leandra Pitts, would spill something they could use to discredit the pair in an ongoing lawsuit over a traffic accident.

The private eyes even tape-recorded the sessions. A lawsuit was filed last week in Fulton County State Court names Wisconson-based Progressive Northern Insurance Co., their lawyers and James Purgason Jr. and Paige Weeks of Merlin Investigations as defendants.

Read about it here.

(Thanks to Art Rogers for the proper link.)

[From me]

Wow! I always wondered how they could quote prices of other companies. Maybe the infiltrate those companies just like they did this church. I’m sorry but this is wrong at many levels. There were innocent people pouring out their lives at this meeting and the PI’s taped their confessions. I’d be angry too!

What do you think?

Breaking News-I got hosed by Wells Fargo!

If my experience is any indication of how you will be treated–I would not recommend leasing vehicles from Wells Fargo. I leased a van 8 years ago and turned it in 4 years ago with no penalty. It was in fair shape. Because of that painless lease we leased another.

Two months ago I dropped off our 2003 Honda Odyssey. It was in better condition than the one I turned in 4 years ago and it was almost 10,000 miles under the allowed miles. I put brand new tires on it and I still got hosed!

Thanks Wells Fargo!
:)
