Where is the fine line of being judgmental and truth?

Published by Kevin Bussey under help, judging, legalism

I started this blog to help me with my judgmental attitudes and legalistic ways.  I fully admit I have a long way to go.  One of the things that has been helpful for me is the self-correction or should I say peer correction that occurs here.  Many times I blow off my ignorance only to be corrected by some of you.  I am not offended by that at all.  In fact I will admit it when I see I’m wrong.

Here is where I’m struggling.  Where is the fine line between standing for the truth I understand in the Bible and being Judgmental?  I’m just curious to find that balance.  Can you help me?   So often I will quote from the Bible and be accused of being closed minded or judgmental.  I’m sure there are times that is true.  But if I’m a follower of Jesus Christ shouldn’t God’s Word be my guide?

So where is the balance?  How do you know when you have crossed over the line of judging a person verses a doctrine or belief?

What do you think?

What should I do?

Published by Kevin Bussey under friends, gas, help, money

The other day my good friend Rob from college called and we talked about life, family, church, Bama football, etc…  Then I told him I was thinking of buying a Scooter because gas has gone up to $3.79 a gallon.  Little did I know that he has a Honda Scooter sitting in his garage not being used.  It only has 200 miles on it and gets 120 miles to the gallon.  He has a motorcycle himself so he doesn’t use it.  He said I was welcome to use it if I went to North Alabama to pick it up.

So here is my dilemma, do I spend the gas money going to get an almost new Honda Scooter and drive it back to Charlotte?  My office is less than 4 miles from my home so I could probably go to work for a month for less than $10.  If I had to use my car, I’m close enough to drive back and get it.  Will driving a Scooter make me turn in my “man card?”  Or am I just being wise with God’s resources?

What do you think?

Guitar help!

Published by Kevin Bussey under church, guitar, help, music

I need some help from those of you who play guitar. I play fairly regularly in our church’s praise band. I can play both electric and acoustic. We have a great electric player (who rocks), so they use me to play acoustic.

Here is my dilemma. When I get the chords for the songs we play our worship leader sends them based on the keyboard. So, often the chords require me to play bar chords. As you know, bar chords don’t sound as good on an acoustic guitar. Do any of you know any websites that will transpose for me so I can capo down and play regular chords?

Thanks in advance and Rock on!
