[NC Wanted]
North Carolina cops are searching for a guy who successfully passed a $200 bill bearing George W. Bush’s portrait and a drawing of the White House complete with lawn signs reading “We like ice cream” and “USA deserves a tax cut.” The phony Bush bill was presented to a cashier at a Food Lion in Roanoke Rapids on September 6 by an unidentified male who was seeking to pay for $150 in groceries. Remarkably, the cashier accepted the counterfeit note and gave the man $50 change. In a separate incident involving a different perp, Roanoke Rapids cops Tuesday arrested Michael Harris, 24, for attempting last month to pass an identical $200 Bush bill at a convenience store.

$200 bill? Man, that is funny. Who would fall with for that? Maybe I could sell them tickets to the school elevator or the submarine?

An 85-year-old woman is being credited with stopping a would-be thief after she caught the teen in her home Sunday afternoon. Leda Smith held the unidentified intruder at gunpoint until police arrived.
Smith said she had just come home from church when she noticed a door open at her home and an outer door broken. Lieberum said Smith immediately realized someone was in her home and decided to retrieve her handgun and went looking for the intruder.
“I saw him move by my keyboard near the wall but I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun,” Smith said, noting that she started keeping the .22-caliber revolver by her bed after a burglary at a neighboring home several weeks ago.
“I said, ‘What are you doing in my house?’” Smith said during an interview Monday with WPXI-TV, Channel 11 in Pittsburgh, a news partner with the Herald-Standard. “He just kept saying he didn’t do it.”
Smith ordered the teen to turn around and not to run and then had him pick up the telephone and dial 911.
She then ordered the boy to give her the telephone after placing the call and she told dispatchers about the intruder.
Officials from 911 stayed on the telephone with Smith as she had the boy lay facedown and spread-eagled on the floor.
“It was exciting,” Smith said of the incident. “I just hope I broke up the ring because they have been hitting a lot of places around here.”

[Toronto Sun]
A man who claims he is an ordained minister was busted with almost half a kilo of pot yesterday during a traffic stop on Hwy. 11 near Bracebridge.
“Rev.” Michel Nathier, 53, of the Church of the Universe, admitted he was smoking a joint when the OPP officer pulled him over but said he was committing a holy act.
“It’s a sacrament,” Nathier said in an interview after he was released from custody with a Sept. 2 court date.
PLANT BLESSED
Nathier said he has about 300 followers in the Sturgeon Falls area, near North Bay, who believe that marijuana is the blessed plant mentioned in the Bible as the “tree of life.”
The church, which he said has chapters throughout Canada and the U.S., has two rules: Don’t hurt yourself and don’t hurt others — and its followers routinely toke “the sacrament.” It does not make one stoned, “just enlightened,” he insists.
