Is Planned Parenthood this desperate?

[Christian Post]

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest provider of surgical abortions, won’t be hosting an advertising event this week that would have promoted its services among youth outside a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Washington State, thanks to the prompt reaction and grassroots efforts of pro-life groups.

According to the American Life League (ALL), a large Richland Wal-Mart Supercenter dropped its association with the pro-choice group after a statement sent out by ALL called on pro-life advocates to bombard the retailer with hundreds of protesting e-mails and phone calls.

“They’re pushing pornography and contraception onto young children – beginning in kindergarten. Now parents aren’t even safe to go shopping without worrying Planned Parenthood will pressure their kids into promiscuous lifestyles that will increase their bloated birth control and abortion profits,” said Marie Hahnenberg, a researcher for American Life League, in the statement.

“Planned Parenthood is now in such desperate need of customers it’s willing to do anything – even stand outside shopping centers to lure young people into its clinics,” she added.

While claiming victory against the pro-choice organization, Hahnenberg stressed that pro-life groups would do good in continuing to oppose efforts by the organization in promoting its harmful agenda.

“It’s hard enough for parents to safeguard their children from Planned Parenthood’s pervasive sexualized propaganda,” she said.

“They shouldn’t have to worry about exposing their kids to Planned Parenthood’s aggressive agenda even in Wal-Mart’s parking lot,” she added.

Pro-life groups say that the recent move by Planned Parenthood is proof of its new desperation that has emerged after the organization has been increasingly challenged in lawsuits regarding its use of taxpayer funding in promoting its “comprehensive” sex education programs.

According to a report released by Planned Parenthood this year, the organization recorded record profits and the highest number of abortions on record. During the 2006-2007 period, the group performed 289,570 abortions and registered over $1 billion in profits.

[From me]

First, I don’t like any group hitting me up when I shop at Wal-Mart.  2nd, Why is un-Planned Parenthood resorting to marketing at Wal-Mart in the first place? I don’t want my children exposed to their propaganda when I shop for groceries and stuff.  Why do they need to advertise anyway–they are tax payer supported.  I can’t believe Wal-Mart would have even considered this.  I’m glad they changed their mind.

Boy Threatened by School Officials over Anti-Abortion Shirt

[Twin Cities.com]

A Hutchinson woman is suing the city’s public schools, claiming officials repeatedly warned her 12-year-old he couldn’t wear anti-abortion T-shirts to school and then made him change when he persisted in trying to wear them for a month.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis by a Christian legal advocacy group, claims Jeanne Ibbitson’s sixth-grader’s right to free speech was violated and that he suffered “irreparable harm” when teachers and administrators had him turn the T-shirts — he wore them for several days — inside out.

“My son kept getting singled out,” Ibbitson said. “He should be able to wear those shirts at school, and they decided that he can’t. It’s not right.”

Daron VanderHeiden, superintendent of Independent School District No. 423, said he’d only received a copy of the lawsuit Wednesday afternoon and couldn’t comment at length.

“We’re currently seeking legal counsel on it,” he said. “I don’t know the facts of the incident other than what’s in here (the lawsuit), and that’s their version of what happened.”

The suit was filed Wednesday by attorneys for the Thomas More Law Center. On its Web site, the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based group says it is a nonprofit law firm “dedicated to the defense and promotion of the religious freedom of Christians, time-honored family values and the sanctity of human life.”

Paul Taylor, a Burnsville attorney who is a volunteer with the organization, said school officials violated the youth’s free-speech rights because “they didn’t like the message.”

“The Supreme Court has said students don’t check their free-speech rights at the schoolhouse door,” Taylor said. “The fact is, they were punishing the message.”

That message was written on three T-shirts Ibbitson’s son — identified in the lawsuit as “K.B.” —wore to Hutchinson Middle School during April. One T-shirt had the words, “Abortion — Growing, Growing, Gone,” another had “What part of abortion don’t you understand?” and the third had “Never Known, Not Forgotten” on the front, with the inscription “47,000,000 babies aborted 1973-2008″ on the back.

Each T-shirt had photos of unborn fetuses. Each was ordered from the Web site of an anti-abortion group, American Life League.

I guess a “Sex in the City” or “Free Condoms” T-shirt would have been OK.

Habitat for Humanity Criticized for Planned Parenthood Partnership

[Christian Post]

The nation’s largest Christian ministry dedicated to housing the poor has drawn criticism from pro-life groups recently over its joint partnership with the nation’s largest provider of surgical abortions.

In an agreement with Planned Parenthood, Habitat for Humanity is allowing the group to bypass zoning regulations in Sarasota, Fla., that restrict the opening of abortion facilities “without the presence of a multifamily liner building.”

According to a statement released earlier this month by the Sarasota City Commission, Habitat for Humanity will reportedly facilitate the opening of Planned Parenthood in the area through a $10 real estate purchase from the group.

“We are excited to have Habitat be a part of the Planned Parenthood team,” a Planned Parenthood representative reportedly said after the agreement.

Jim Sedlak, vice-president of the American Life League, in response, blasted the move by Habitat for Humanity.

“Habitat for Humanity, which claims to be a Christian ministry, says that this was only a real estate transaction. However, Planned Parenthood could not open its abortion facility without Habitat’s help,” he explained in a statement.

[From me]

$10?  It is bad enough that a “Christian” organization would sell to a baby killing organization like PP, but for $10?  Don’t tell me it was a business transaction. If I had land and PP offered me 10X the amount I wouldn’t sell just because I wouldn’t want to sell to an organization that is in the baby killing business!  I’ve always admired Habitat for Humanity but this is sad and disappointing.

Planned Parenthood Promotes Mother’s Day Abortions, Draws Protests

[Christian Post]

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest provider of surgical abortions, has triggered protests and outcry from pro-life groups recently over a series of emails that were sent out soliciting donations “in honor” of Mother’s Day.

“Dear Friend, Join us! Make a Mother’s Day gift!” the email states.

Janet Morana and Georgette Forney, joint founders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (SNMAC), an organization dedicated to bringing to public the horrors of abortion, said the emails sent by Planned Parenthood were a slap in the face to the millions of men and women who continue to suffer from the personal trauma of past abortions. Moreover, they added, Planned Parenthood’s use of Mother’s Day as a platform to further their abortion agenda was “appalling.”

“The irony of Planned Parenthood asking for Mother’s Day donations in honor of mothers and daughters hardly needs pointing out. Planned Parenthood already took our money when they aborted our children; I guess now they want money for the ones they missed,” Georgette Forney said incredulously in a statement.

“This is an organization that has turned Mother’s Day into a painful reminder of terminated children for millions and millions of women. To ask for money on this day so that it can traumatize even more women is the ultimate in insensitivity,” cried Janet Morana.

“Planned Parenthood, the organization that has slaughtered 4,358,499 babies, is trying to raise money in conjunction with the national holiday on which we celebrate our very own mothers,” the group said in a statement.

[From me]

Mothers Day?  This is a slap in the face to those mothers who decided to give life rather than abort life. This has to be one of the worst examples of hypocrisy.  Planned Parenthood is responsible for than more 4 million deaths to innocent babies!  They ought to be ashamed of using the name mother in one of their solicitations.  They have prevented motherhood.

If the are really planning parenthood, why are they increasing abortions?

[CNS NEWS]

Planned Parenthood Federation of America made unprecedented revenues and increased the number of abortions over a one-year period by the largest percentage since 1996, according to its just-released annual report.

For the fiscal year July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007, the organization earned revenues of more than $1 billion and recorded 289,750 abortions - 24,807 more than the previous year.

“If Planned Parenthood were a publicly traded company, they’d be celebrating,” Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, told Cybercast News Service. “The stockholders would be screaming, ‘Wow, what a good year we had!’”

Planned Parenthood posted its latest annual report on its Web site last week, prompting reaction from several pro-life organizations, including American Life League.

“Planned Parenthood received a $31.4 million pay raise in taxpayer funds - a 10.8 percent increase in the ‘non-profit’s’ government revenue,” Perkins added.

Sedlak said statistics gathered by the American Life League show that Planned Parenthood provides approximately 1-in-4 abortions that take place each year in the United States.

Where is the planning for parenting?  Why don’t they just admit that they exist to promote sex and abortion?
