Woman Apologizes With Pennies At Church

[News Net 5]

An Ashtabula woman who stole money from a church apologized Sunday to it’s members in a unique way. Painsville Judge Michael Cicconetti, known for giving unusual sentences, gave Anna Marie Cothrum the chance to spell out her apology in pennies. Cothrom was convicted for stealing a donation jar from the Central Congregational Church in Madison. Instead of being angry, the church embraced her. Cothrum avoided a stiffer sentence in exchange for spelling out her apology. It reads, “I stole coins from this church.”

Hmm… did it have to go all the way to court for a conviction for the church to embrace her? She was caught so couldn’t the church have worked out some sort of payment of work or something? It just seems like something other than humiliation and spending of tax payers money could have been done to get across that stealing is a sin but we still love you and lets find out WHY you felt like you had to steal instead of ask for help. I understand there needs to be consequences but my goodness…

It just doesn’t seem right to me…
    God bless,

The church members demonstrated true grace, forgiveness, and love…

The court system also showed grace by forgiving part of her debt to society. All around, I think everyone showed real class.
