so I'm not reading in order. Is it not wrong to be upset about a church sign, but be ok with a bulletin announcement? Mass public wise they are both about homosexuality being a sin.

i like the clever non-offensive church signs. Yes, they sadly do little for helping people find Jesus. We have car washes and transmissions places that also do clever signs....so perhaps it is too worldly of a thing to do. ok...I'll stop thinking out loud.

This sort of reminds me of the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" NOT! This is just plain stupid. Idiocy at its finest. To see more of this type of drivel check out http://crummychurchsigns.blogspot.com/

I'm kinda thinkin signs like that pretty much serve to bring the rebellion out of rebellious people and the self-righteousness out of self-righteous people. As others have said, I don't think it does a thing to save a person from hell, and may even serve to drive them further in.

Joel B.'s last blog post..How can we give what we don't (know we) have?

Ok - yeah the sign is stupid.
The song is not sending the right message -
but did the pastor ever watch the video?

Either he hasn't watched the video or he hasn't seen pornography since 1950. You can see worse things on network tv.

But back to the point - just because you have a church sign, doesn't mean you should put stupid things on it.

David's last blog post..Holy Fool

Wow, that's really going to round 'em up on Sunday morning! I think the Pastor's intentions were likely honest and heart-felt, but such a display will do no more than condemn the very people he aimed to reach; those who experience same-sex attraction are just like those of us who don't: we all try to meet our own needs through our own resources. As followers of Christ, we have to revamp our evangelism strategies - if we want others to desire the reconciled relationship that we all experience - it needs to be lived out in each of us on a daily basis - not preached out of us. I've never met anyone who truly came into a relationship with Christ because they were guilt-tripped or condemned into it. They came to Christ out of desperation and out of a deep-seeded need to be reconciled to Father. Guilt and shame certainly don't promote a desire to worship God. If anything, they only serve to push people toward those who "accept" them with open, uncondemning arms. We need to stop focusing on everyone's behavior - that's not why Jesus died - so we could all "behave" like Christians. He died so we could be free and forgiven for the desires of our flesh - behavioral change is now considered a pre-requisite for those seeking God - when in reality, it should be the result of those whom He finds and transforms.

The sign makes me sad because it seems to me they have not only missed an opportunity to share the Gospel, they have presented a distorted view of sin and hell.

The conclusions I wrote about regarding this story were these

1. First, the tragedy of this story is not the promotion of homosexuality alone. I see in this story an example of what can happen to anyone who flirts with the corruptive influences of our World.
2. Second, we must not forget, that God cares not just about our emotions, but He also cares for how we use our bodies.
3. Pray for Ms. Perry's family and anyone you know who has a child in rebellion. The Father loves these lost kids and wants them to return from their prodigal ways.
4. Pray for this young woman that she will repent, but also take note of your own life. What compromises have you made that seem small now, but could lead to great tragedy if not held in check by the Spirit of God?

Joe Miller's last blog post..Jesus Knows What Hurts You

At first, before reading the article, I thought, "This has got to be photoshop at its best..." Then, I read the article, and thought, "How sad! How very sad!"

I wonder, how many people in that community will go to hell today because of clever church sign did little to point them toward Jesus, the only one who can prevent someone from going to hell...

When I see a church sign and it has some sort of "clever" saying on it.. I immediately think, "Hmmm, must not be anything happening there." Right now our sign gives info on our current message for Sunday and the other side has our website and info about our Gustav relief effort. There is always a lot to promote... so no time for stupid church signs.
