Hans,

I don't have a clue if any of the Beatles are believers. But I believe many believers chase off people because of our legalistic rules.

Well, with the band's love affair with Buddhism, I fear we would be over run with more "Buddhist Christians". I know it is a contradiction in terms, but they are out there (in more ways than 8). I fear the gospel would be watered down even more had the Fab 4 lifestyle been more accepted. OR perhaps, if the boys from Liverpool had been regular church goers, they would not have fallen prey to the lies of visualization and reincarnation. Much less... Instant Karma as one of Lenon's songs said.

Hans Wunch's last blog post..Happy Independence Day

I agree Kevin. We usually dismiss and even ban what we don't want to hear. This is something I thought at the time. I never want to be the problem either. What you have posted here is one of the many reasons you are such an asset to the church Kevn. Kudos.

How about "I Am a Walrus?" See book of Jonah

Great post Ryan. I laughed. Got me thinking about more songs too!

"Maybe I'm Amazed!" Talking about God's acceptance of me (more Paul though I reckon)

Just look at the Lennon/McCartney worship set...

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"...talking about LSD? YES!!! Lord, Savior, Deity!

"Come Together" - the original song about community.

"Let it Be" - a reminder to not get close to sin.

"Lady Madonna" - no explanation needed.

"All You Need is Love" - AMEN!

"Help!" - a cry for God's help.

"We Can Work it Out" - Godly reconciliation.

"Hey Jude" - the only song written to celebrate the short but powerful book.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" - Heaven!!!

"Getting Better" - a song about sanctification!

"Yellow Submarine" - mmmm...still have no idea!

Ryan Day's last blog post..Summer in the City

WOW! Gives another perspective on him that's for sure. I was struck by the statement he made about "the churches may not be full but we would have a lot of Christians dancing in the dance halls." Is that an early form of "church without walls?" Just curious. Could he have been touching on something years ago that many Christ-followers are talking about now? Also, like Steve, I could have been thrown out of church for some things (but not the giggles). I had to sit my parents for years so giggles were not allowed. :) We also have to raise the question about being judgmental of others. It also gives a good view of why they searched "spiritually?"

Kevin...I'm afraid we've thrown too many people out of the church for even worse reasons...some of those were non-believers, and many were Christ followers. For some reason, we've become the church wardens, ruling with an iron fist, and if anyone doesn't meet our standards, out they go.
