Well, Kevin, that doesn't say that marriage won't exist... merely that no one will be able to get married any more... it does not dissolve existing marriages... did He say "and all existing marriages will be dissolved" or something similar?

Thank you for replying.

Matthew 22:29-32

29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31 But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’a? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

Haven't had internet access for a bit, so I fell behind in this blog. I'd like to see more of the debate continue.

Kevin - what verses are you using for the suggestion that Jesus said marriage will no longer exist in heaven?

Bill - what verses do you say support that there will be marriage still?

Thanks.

I'm 23 years old. Alcoholic parents. "saved" at age 7. Went on mission trips when i was pre-teen to early teenage years. High school beat me down and I didn't rely on Jesus as the firm foundation in my life. I graduated with no direction. Went to a community college and partied for four years. I got in trouble had 15 misdemeanor. Gambled got beat up and robbed by "friends". I say all this just to give you an Idea of what I have experienced in my life. I have experienced Grace. I have seen and experienced first hand the power of living the way Jesus lived. I have seen the strongholds break. I'd have to say that I'm a New Creation in Christ. Now to why and how I found this Blog. I have a neighbor and her brother plays with my nephews. We had never really met and Our families had never really become close, I guess because my parents knew they were LDS and were scared or something, which is ridiculous in my opinion. So being as I have been falling in Love with Jesus and really, I mean REALLY been surrendering and falling on my face asking for his help guidance, Wisdom and actually spending time in his word. I wanted to see how a man Joseph Smith could have brought back "the fullness of the Gospel" as I actually read in some of her literature. I was really stunned when I first read this. I became a new creation just through the words in the Bible and experiencing the life changing power. Not some feeling or some notion, goose bumps on my skin in a cold church building, calling it the Holy Spirit. I think we and I mean believers in Jesus are "the kingdom of God" How powerful would it be if we could really love. Love others who don't "deserve" it instead of tear them down. Listen to us complain about those on welfare. Listen to the racisms. I even asked my Mormon friend about Black people and what Joseph Smith said about them. What about our tongues? what about the book of James who said our religion would be on no use basically, useless we controlled out tongues. Out of the abundance of our hearts.. whats in there? So how can anyone say.. that drink made me sin.. or that woman made me sin.. or that man made me sin.. or smoking that cigarette was a sin.. or drinking caffeine is a sin?God judges our hearts right? Not whether we knew everything intelectually or had everything just RIGHT! I mean I can know all way that I shouldn't sin anymore intellectually.. but do i still sin? Yes.

Mormons don't just believe you have to be "Good" to go to heaven. It's much more than that. And we know that everyone sins, because we are all human. But the point is, is to try to not sin, to try to be the best you can. And when you do the wrong thing, to know that you can ask for forgivness because God forgives those who ask for it.
And although we have "all fallen short of God" That's why he sent Jesus here, to suffer for us, and to forgive us.
I think you should get a few facts straight before you go ahead and think you're right about everything and try to tell us we're wrong.

Kevin,

Please enlighten me about why, if we are to fail so badly as to never enter into the Kingdom of Heaven did Christ have to die on the cross? He died to bear the burden of our sins, to essentially irradicate them if we but seek God's forgiveness.

Also, if we are such a blight in God's eyes, why does He continue to allow us to propogate? Why save Noah from the flood rather than cleansing ALL humans and starting over? You quote a few lines from the Bible but give no real answers. Please correct this before you continue to "educate" people on God or what He wants.

I'm sorry but this is the most idiotic thing I've ever read in my entire life.

I really don't understand how people can go about bad mouthing mormons and their beliefs when they obviously have no knowledge of what is involved in being a mormon.

Get off your high horse. I feel sorry for you that you DON'T have the gospel in your life. If you love everyone, then why are you so critical?

This has been a lot of fun to read. I'll answer at least one question, based on MY opinion. Q: Please answer the question in your own words. How does a person get to heaven?

We get to heaven by the grace and blood of Jesus, AFTER all we can do. Can we, by our own works, get to heaven? No. We need the Atonement to make up the difference. Do we need to do good works? Certainly. If not... guess the 10 commandments were merely suggestions. THOU SHALT NOT STEAL... unless you want to. His blood will cover you anyway. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY... then again, why not? His blood will cover you anyway.

No, those are not suggestions. We show by our works/actions that we are followers of the saviour Jesus.

I will have to come back to this site and read some more, as well as some other of your blogs.

Thank you!
