Welcome Health/Wealth teachers…

Posted at 6:01 pm under health, heresy

Last week I linked an article where Kenneth Copeland claimed that the Senate’s probe into his ministries and other Health/Wealth/Prosperity teachers were being targeted because they were Pentecostals.  I made a comment that I thought that was unfair to the Pentecostals that don’t teach Health/Wealth and Prosperity.  Most of the Pentecostals I know are Godly people who love God and don’t teach the lies that are being taught on most of the “Christian” TV stations.

I guess my little post had more power than I thought.  The last three days I have had dozens of people from Kenneth Copeland Ministries on my site for hours at a time.  In fact there are times where there are 3-4 people from Eagle Mountain on at the same time.  Who knows, Kenneth and Gloria may be lurking for all I know.  I’ve also had people from TBN on too!  Wow!

I just want to let you know you are welcome to comment and give your point of view.  I didn’t realize that this little blog would warrant so much attention.  I don’t agree with your interpretation of Scripture–in fact I believe what you are teaching is false teaching.  But if you want to defend from the Bible your view you are more than welcome.  I will be the first to admit I’m wrong if you can prove to me that I’m supposed to be wealthy.  Our family is struggling financially as I type because we are raising our own financial support to minister in our community.  If I’m missing God’s blessing I want to know.

(BTW, Habitat for Humanity has been lurking for 3 days too. )

So, Health/Wealth and Prosperity proponents take your best shot.

I appreciate sincere faith in God’s healing power and in the power of intercession, but I am amazed that people dismiss the Scripture that demonstrates that while God can bless us with material blessings, His heart is for our spiritual blessings and growth in love for Him and His things, not the things of this world. May God reveal Himself more clearly to those who are deceived by a (worldly) prosperity gospel.

I was raised Pentecostal…am now more Bapticostal…pastored for about 17 years now…i am one that is ashamed that we are known for the “health/wealth…word of faith/prosperity” movement. If we would have policed our own, this would not be happening! Thank you for telling it like it is…some of us in this camp have also tried…unfortunately America’s sin of greed lines right up with this false teaching!

I have ministered to many who have been disillusioned with this teaching and fear many more are on the way!

I just read The Barbarian Way…wow what a great read…and it flies in the face of all the live for Jesus, be rich and wealthy, etc!

Stay faithful…and don’t judge your success on this world’s standards!

Seeing that God said we DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE OUGHT TO PRAY FOR, I doubt seriously that He’s into giving us whatever we ask for. I wouldn’t want that, in fact, because my short-sightedness leads me to ask for things that aren’t in either His, or my, best interests.

And this life isn’t about me being rich or even healthy. It’s about HIM, and His aim for me isn’t healthiness or happiness. It’s holiness. All else must be subordinated to that.

    Isaiah 45:13

“I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct his ways: He shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.”

    1 Peter 5:2

“Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the ovetrsight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for FILTHY LUCRE, but of a ready mind.”

    Bill,

Great verses. How about Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

    Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That means we can’t work our way to heaven like the LDS teaches.

    Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

That means he died for us and we are righteous based on Him not what we do.

    John 14:6

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

That means no other way but through Jesus. NO Joseph Smith, Mohammed or anyone else.

    Kevin,

What about the various degrees of glory, as described in
    1 Corinthians 15:4?

Have you limited your ministry to 4 verses…when there is so much more that needs to be learned.

If only a portion of the gospel is being taught, then that means a portion is not being taught.

Somehow, I feel that preachers habe a solemn responsibility to tell the whole story…not just the portion which keeps the sheeple hunkered down.

Joseph Smith is not our savior. His blood was not shed for us. He is no more who we worship than the Baptist worship Annie Armstrong.

The only way to return to our Heavenly Father is by the atonement of Jesus Christ. HE paid the ultimate price.

    Kevin,

I DO NOT deny any of the verses (called the Roman Road to salvation) that you have shared. But there is more. One must strive for righteousness by keeping the commandments. Lip service will not work, and Faith Without Works Is Dead.

Because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus, we know that all men will be saved, but to what kingdom?

One may qualify for the telestail or terrestrial kingdom (back to 1 Corinthians 15:4), but is that enough.

Celestial Kingdom = Live again with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ

Terrestrial Kingdom = Live again with Jesus Christ only

Telestial Kingdom = Live where only the Holy Ghost is present

You still refuse to address my scriptures??? Why not explain this since you believe the Bible to be the entire word of God. After all, the scriptures come directly from the Bible you preach and teach out of every Sunday I presume.

    K,

I share your concern about the Health/wealth teachings as well. i still have not heard their answer to the believers in China and Africa and elsewhere who are probably more faithful than I am but have less monetarily and also physically. And please don’t pull out that crock that they “must not have had enough faith.”

I was also not privy to Bill’s earlier Scriptures but find no biblical backing for the 3 kingdoms. I also find it interesting that the LDS likes to gloss over the fact that they talk about Jesus Christ as the Son of God but that they don’t mention that Lucifer is considered his brother. Elohim having many wives and many children-two of whom are Jesus and Lucifer? Elohim coming down and having physical sex with Mary as their explanation for the virgin birth? Sorry but don’t see that either.

I too believe that we are saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves (to quote Eph.2: 8). I believe in assurance. I also believe that true Christ-followers will want to show their faith by what they do. But we are not saved by them.

    Sorry so long.

    Bill (Cycle Guy)

    Isaiah 14:12 states…

“How art thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!

How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”

    Revelations 12: 7 - 9 states…

7 “And there was war in Heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought against his angels.

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in Heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil and satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him.”

All of God’s spitit children whom He created lived with him in the pre-existence. Jesus, HIS only begotten (or first born), Lucifer (son of the morning) and ourselves (ALL spirit brothers and sisters).

Sadly, Lucifer (satan) wanted to rise above God, and many followed him in open rebellion against the plan of salvation (just as they do today), whereas we would come here, obtain a physical body, and be tested to see if we would be faithful in all things. Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, and made it possible for us to live eternally in a degree of glory (see 1 Corinthians 15: 40)

I have to say that I do not believe in all of Copeland’s teachings, but I do think that he has seen a bigger picture in all of this. It is obvious to me that we could all be affected by the decisions that are made in this situation. I personally have an interest in my future rights.

Shining Bright - I have to agree with your comment. I do not believe in all of Copeland’s teachings either. However, like you, I am interested in the future of my First Amendment rights. It’s crazy to think that ONE Senator could be possibly given the power to ask for such information whenever he prefers.
