Yesterday a friend from Atlanta emailed me and asked if I had seen CNN?  A friend/boss of both of ours was in the news — not for a good reason.  After reading the story and then seeing the footage on CNN I’m heartbroken.  This man was/is a friend, mentor and example to me.  I hurt for him, his family and his church.  I watched the story with tears in my eyes.  In fact I still have them.  I don’t know what else to say.  I’m not posting the story out of respect of his family but I’m sure you’ve seen the story yourself.

I won’t judge, I will only pray for him and his family.  They are and will be my friends.  I pray God will restore him.  Please pray for them….

  1. K,

Not sure who this is since I don’t watch much TV at all and don’t get CNN. However, i do respect the fact that you will not print it. There is enough finger pointing going on as it is. I am surprised the media has not jumped on this (whatever it is) even more. Kudos to you for your sensitivity. This is a reminder that no leader, especially a spiritual leader, is exempt from hurt and falling.

I deleted your comment. I did not want to link that story. If you want to do it on your own site, that is your business. Please respect my reason for not linking it here.

    Now Kevin,

In the past, you have not been as sensitive toward other people and their ways of worship (some needed it I stronglyagree), so why would you now be in the business of censoring

This man is a child of God, just like all others are. He should not be judged any differently however than you have chosen to judge the horrific actions of the CULT FLDS church

The first step to recoovery and healing, is acknowledgement and acceptance that there is a problem.

I pray the State of Texas DOES NOT bring Baptist buses from other churches to his compound in Plano, take away ALL of the innocent children, and prosecute 20,000+ parents for the actions of one or several men…as has been done out there to the likes of other demon possessed men like David Koresch or Warren (the puke) Jeffs..

  4. Bill,

This isn’t a democracy. You want to go post on your own site–fine. I will not here.

    Kevin,

In truth, I pray for that man, his congregation, and especially for any children who may have been perpetrated! I certainly pray that they are not on the receiving end of a brutal “lamestream” media.

It is a sad day no matter where this sort of things raises it’s ugly head.

Satan does not have boundaries from which he spews his poison. His mission is to destroy the lives (especially families) of ALL of God’s children, regardless of where/how they woship he and His son Jesus Christ.

Let us pray that this pastor will find light and truth, and that he will desire to share it with those he will now be associated with.

  6. Thank you Bill for your prayers. That is what he and his family need.

    Kevin,

Is it as beautiful in Charlotte, as it is here in Gatlinburg today?

Wow…the sky is actually clear for a change!

I hope you, Cassandra, and your cildren get to go and have some fun today!

Hug your family, cleave unto them, and ask our Heavenly Father to protect us all from satan’s vicious pursuits.

It’s times like this that we could ALL remember the words of a simple children’s song…

In the song “Jesus Loves Me” we are told that we are weak and He is strong. How true that remains, and for that reason, the blood of Jesus Christ was shed.

    Take care!

  8. Bill, (the Mormon - not cycle guy)

so why would you now be in the business of censoring…This man is a child of God, just like all others are.

I don’t see it as some lofty spiritual or philosophical issue, or even a fairness issue; the guy is Kevin’s personal friend and Kevin is just being loyal to him by not wanting to embarrass him further by posting the embarrassing article. Loyalty to friends is a virtue that I admire.

  9. Kevin, I’m sorry about this situation, and even more sorry that it happened to someone you trust. May the peace of Christ be with him, his family, and you and your family. Of course we will continue to pray for everyone affected.

  10. Bill the Mormon,

It is beautiful today. And things will get better. My wife & I had a hard time sleeping & many tears have been shed. But God is bigger than this. He can restore my friend & his family.

I will be in Gatlinburg in August & would love to meet you.

    A3 & TIA,

    Thanks friends.

  11. Bill

    You’re welcome Kevin.

My love and prayers to ALL our brothers & sisters on this site…even our friend Atheist, who should go back to bed and start the day over ha/ha..

Bill “the Latter Day Saint” or Mormon if you’d rather :)

  12. Chris

I am also heartbroken about our friend. He needs Jesus to be very real right at this moment, and I am praying that our Lord will be very close to him and his family. Obviously, the media will do all that they can to destroy anything Christian. It is most unfortunate when believers help them to do so by making foolish decisions.

I don’t understand the why’s of this situation, and I probably never will. I only hope that our friend will find help in time of great need, and that his family will be healed from the motivations and consequences of a detestable action. Furthermore, may mercy and grace be granted by our loving Father towards all involved in this terrible hurt.

I can’t imagine the pressure that they must be feeling.

  13. Amen Chris.
