Christian TV upset about ‘a la Carte’ Plan, where Viewers Could Bar Certain Channels

Posted at 2:20 pm under Christian, heresy, mtv, tv

[Washington Post]

Evangelical Christians are on the front lines in the battle over indecency on cable television, calling for a pick-and-choose pricing plan that would allow viewers to keep certain channels out of their homes. But on the opposite end of the battlefield is an opponent familiar to and even respected by evangelicals: Christian cable stations.

The fear among Christian broadcasters is that a proposal to allow consumers to reject MTV or Comedy Central would also allow them to drop the Trinity Broadcasting Network or Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network. Cutting off that access could hurt religious broadcasters.

Read about it here.

[From me]

And this is bad because ……?  Man, I hope this does go into effect.  ”Christian TV” for the most part is horrible.  If I were broadcasting a Christian show, I would go where the people are, not to the junk on TBN, Daystar and others. There are some good programs on Christian TV stations but very few.  So the good ones are judged by the tacky ones.  There are way too many heretics on those stations.  We block MTV anyway, but it would be nice not to have to pay for it!

What do you think?

Here is a video that my friend Stuart Delony made for a message I preached a few years ago.

I would LOVE ala carte cable. And would not miss TBN one wit.

It would be hilarious to see TBN rival or surpass MTV on the “most frequently declined” stations list.

I sure hope they track that kind of info.

And this is bad why? Am I going to miss Miss Purple Hair and Mr. Hair Bouffant (sp) and Mr. Smiley? And all the other prosperity heretics? ABSOLUTELY…NOT! (Want me to tell you how I really feel?) :) We are down to basic cable because of the cost so I watch almost no TV anyway. Definitely not TBN. I think this is a good thing and maybe, just maybe I may be able to get a few channels to watch.

Interesting thing….I live in North Africa and I have satellite. TBN is on all over the place. This is the first view of Christianity many get all over the Middle East….great!
