Bible stops bullet

A bullet tore through a Geauga County home here Sunday night while a young family was inside. A deer slug came through the east side of the home, traveled through several walls and came to a stop after striking a Bible in a bedroom closet.

If that was the sword or the shield of the Spirit, then would this be the 4 bars of the Spirit?

Several years ago, our church held a little event where people were asked to bring Bibles that had a great deal of significance to them personally. It was pretty cool. Several people, mostly older folks, participated. Some had Bibles that had belonged to grandparents, and were really old. Some had copies with fifty years of study notes written in them. One guy’s Bible took the prize, in my mind. It was a small bible, like the kind the Gideons hand out in school. It had a metal cover, and the guy said it was given to him in basic training, as he was preparing to go off to war. He was not a believer, in fact, he was an atheist. But he considered the Bible a gracious gift, and took it in case he ever got bored. During his tour of duty in Europe, he was involved in an intense gun battle with some German soliders, and he was shot and knocked off his feet. He took a bullet right in the chest. He thought he would surely die, and because there are no atheists in foxholes, he cried out to God to save him as he was dying. Once he caught his breath, and realized that he wasn’t exactly dead, he reached into his shirt pocket, and pulled that metal Bible out, and there was a dent in it. The Bible had stopped that bullet, and saved his life.
I’m not sure that in the time I knew that guy, he ever missed an opportunity to be in church. He was one of the happiest, most fulfilled guys I ever met.
