Why Oprah is so dangerous…

Published by Kevin Bussey at 11:00 am under faith, heresy, new age, oprah, religion, scary

Joe Louthan alerted me to Oprah’s new radio show on XM radio.  Let’s face it Oprah does some pretty incredible things.  She gives away cars, books and has a new Reality TV show that encourages contestants to give away money.  How could anyone be against that.

But here is the danger of Oprah.  She is such a good person that she is leading people astray with her religion.   Make no mistake about it this is a religious show.  Oprah talks about prayer here.  But  who is she praying to?  Oprah’s morals are surely not Biblical.  She is a New Age thinker that is leading people down a path of destruction.

Oprah is offering a year-long course on the New Age teachings of Marianne Williamson.  A lesson a day throughout the year will completely cover the 365 lessons from the Course in Miracles “Workbook.”

Here are some quotes from the “Jesus” of A Course in Miracles:

  • “There is no sin. . . ” 9
  •  A “slain Christ has no meaning.”10
  • “The journey to the cross should be the last ‘useless journey.”11
  • “Do not make the pathetic error of ‘clinging to the old rugged cross.’”12
  • “The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol… It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray.”13
  • “God is in everything I see.”14
  • “The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself.”15
  • “The oneness of the Creator and the creation is your wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power.”16
  • “The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation.”17

Now this is plain heresy.

Here is what the Bible says.

  1. Romans 3:23 says: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
  2. Romans 6:6 says: “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with
  3. Luke 9:23 says; “Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
  4. John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Ms. Williamson and Oprah are giving people false hope.  There is only one way to God and that is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ’s name is not a symbol, it is the way to salvation.  Without the “CROSS” there would be no payment for our sins.

Oprah does some great things with her celebrity.  But she is more dangerous than blatant Satan worshipers because she comes across as such a good person.  The Gospel of Oprah will lead people down a path of destruction.

What do you think?

Kevin: I fully agree. Oprah is big, BIG. Her religion sounds enough like Christianity that people are buying this. Anyone who can simply mention a book and it’s on the top seller list is powerful. She never mentions Christ, just God and it’s not the God of the Bible. There is some dangerous stuff floating around, but what gives me comfort is that when what she is preaching does not work, people will keep searching and be open to the gospel. It also tells me by the numbers that follow her teachings, we need to get out there and be missionaries in our own land. That is just a fraction of the people who are looking for answers, and we have the greatest answer. Jesus Christ.

I’ve heard it said that the easiest lie to believe is the one that is closest to the truth. Man… that’s not even close.

But it certainly would be appealing to those who are “post-Christian” in their thinking, i.e. they know about, have experienced, been burned, bored, beheaded and bludgeoned by the church and have walked away. Their spiritual pain and hunger are very real and desperate for some sense of relief. Oprah’s religion provides that–it makes them feel better but is not based on truth.

We’re seeing 2 Timothy 4:3-4 come to life.

“For the time will come when men [and Oprah's audience of mostly women] will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

Thanks for pointing this teaching out.

I don’t think it’s any scarier than those tv “evangelists” that are on all the time . . .

  4. Mrs. Osipovon 28 Feb 2008 at 4:51 pm

Is she asking people to send her/them all their money and then life will be wonderful, on top of punching their ticket to heaven?

    Mrs. Osipov,

I’m not going to defend some of the televangelists tactics. But, at least the majority of them is teaching that Jesus is the “ONLY” way to heaven. Oprah is teaching that you are God. Scary because she is a “nice” person and has done some great things. But Jesus said HE is the only way to the Father.

She is indeed dangerous…and very generous…

That can be a deceptive combination.

Kevin, it is dangerous. And you are right. This a good observation

Oprah appeals to our sinful human nature – that is why she is so popular and her lies so deceptive.

    Jesus testifes to the Truth.

Thanks for your post, I listened to Oprah’s first webinar with Tolle’s new book, A New Earth, and I posted on how Oprah has transcended from talk show host to uber-evangelist.

OPRAH … from spending several years in Jeremiah Wright’s anti-American racist church, listening to sermons like “God Damn America”, and giving life time achievement awards to the likes of Louis Farrakhan … to her newest opportunistic religious beliefs … who could possibly take Oprah seriously? This woman’s ego is soooo big, being a billionaire celebrity isn’t enough, she has to start her own religion … not to mention all the additional money she is going to make selling all those book, tapes, CD’s, etc. to her poor followers. Oprah’s new power hungry ambitions include efforts to replace traditional America with Obama … and access to a President she puts into office … to her efforts at replacing Christianity with a new religion she controls. I think it’s time for America to deny Oprah access to our television sets.

Oprah is scary for more than one reason. Not only is she trying to give us Obama religion, she is headed on the road to take on Fox News when she quits her show and starts up her own “Entertainment” network. Tell all your friends to stand up and fight back. Oprah is a pariah on this country and she needs to be stopped.
