Lies Taught In Church Every Sunday?

The new ministry we will be serving is a “Grace-filled” church.  I was asked to read GRACE WALK and we went to Grace Life International training last week.  There are many ministries that teach the “EXCHANGED LIFE” message that Hudson Taylor taught years ago.  Steve McVey has a video blog where he shares  101 Lies Taught in Church Every Sunday.  I encourage you to check them out.

Once you have been freed from legalism you are truly free. I can’t tell you how many times I left churches feeling like I didn’t measure up.  Guilt, shame, etc… that isn’t the abundant life!  I don’t believe God intended us to live with so much bondage.   Jesus came to free us!

What do you think?

Good video. I would clarify it just a bit: You can’t go too far with grace, as long as you teach it properly and it isn’t cheap grace (i.e., grace without repentence, without the cross, etc. as Deitrich Bonhoeffer said so eloquently).

Yes, boldly proclaim grace, because it is true and it is the one thing (besides Jesus) that makes Christianity unique among all the works-based religions and man-made ideas in the world.

    Hi Kevin,

I came across your site by searching for the phrase “101 Lies Taught in Church,” to see if there were other people out there linking to Steve McVey’s videos… thereby helping me to find more “grace” blogs. :) From one recovery Pharisee to another, grace and peace to you!

(Error in my previous comment: “recovery” should be “recovering.”)

    Neil and Avery,

Great to hear from you again.

    Joel,

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you can find Grace here.
