Westboro= no grace?
The commander of Camp Lejeune, N.C., ordered her leathernecks to stay away from an anti-military and anti-gay group that has promised to demonstrate at the base following the death of a pregnant Marine.
The Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church, which frequently pickets the funerals of military members, said it will demonstrate at the base at noon Saturday.
“God hates the U.S. Marines,” the group said in a statement.
Read about it here.
[From me]
I lived in Jacksonville for three years. The Marines in our church were some of the most committed men and women I’ve ever met. Where in the Bible does it say that God hates the Marines? The Westboro people are so misguided. This young lady’s family is grieving and the Westboro clan is spewing hate. You can watch my interview with them last year here.
What do you think?

Maybe you could get another interview with them and ask? Those other interviews you did were the bomb (and got a lot of views on YouTube!).
These morons picketed the funeral of a soldier at my church last year. I think the best thing to do is ignore them. The crave attention and the media keeps giving it to them. Ignoring them wont make them go away but it will give them less of a platform.
I am originally from Kansas and I have been aware of the Westboro group for a very long time. They are a hate group using a church name. That is all they are. It’s another group that if people would do to them as they did to the KKK, they would disappear. They have too much money and hate. That is all they have. Oh and they are publicity hounds. I would love to see them destroyed.
Is it any wonder that they get so much press?
It fits the media’s template of Christians = hate/intolerance, so they will get every bit of media coverage they crave. Anything that goes against that template won’t get the coverage.
Look at how much this reflects on Christians to the mainstream masses. We can say all we want that this doesn’t, but if they were presenting themselves as anything but “Christians” they wouldn’t get a tenth of the attention in the media that they currently do.
They love pointing out the word “Church” in the stories. “Hey, look what these Christian wastes-of-space are up to again!”
I guess my point is, don’t be surprised about their publicity. They are the perfect “straw man” of the secular movement. Do they ever mention in these news stories what the rest of the Christian community thinks of their behavior?
I’m truly saddened by this whole charade from Kansas….truly, truly saddened.
