Guess Where I am?

Posted at 9:32 pm under road trip

I arrived safely about 1:00 today in a rainstorm.  I hate flying in the rain.  My mind is mush right now.  I will post about the church that I’m meeting with later.  I was given permission. They have it going.  I’m grateful for this opportunity.

As soon as I saw the picture of the Batman building, I knew where you were. So how long are you going to be in the Music City? If you get a chance, I suggest that you eat at Demos’ (near 3rd and Commerce). If you tell them I sent you, it won’t make any difference; but the food is very good and the atmosphere is upscale without the price.

I would have to second Tim’s recommendation of Demo’s. It is excellent! If you like good breakfast bakeries and can get to Franklin, try the Puffy Muffin. It’s a Christian owned business that I would LOVE to figure out how to transplant to Birmingham! :-)

Too bad that Nvll has closed so many of its best restaurants, even the 5th Quarter bit the dust this month. Careful w/ the traffic lane changes on Woodmont Blvd as I bet you’re headed thataway.
The cops are notorious fundraisers, I hear tell.

The Life & Casualty building was a dead give-away. No, wait .. that’d be raffling off a cadaver, I think.

Incidentally, the Life & Casualty (insurance)company was the original (and maybe current) owner of WLAC radio, and even contributed the call letters. I still remember Randy’s Record Shop from Gallatin, which we listened to even in Indiana on Clear-Channel WLAC.

    Bob,

You know your Nashville history. Talking about the L&C Building, I remember when it and the National Life Building were the only real skyscrapers in Nashville. I’m sure as an insurance guy you appreciate the fact that Nashville’s first two high-rise skyscrapers and its two most famous radio stations (WSM & WLAC) were built by insurance companies.

All this makes me miss home.
