Paris Hilton–’God Has Released Me’

[From ABC NEWS]
Paris Hilton called Barbara Walters collect and had some interesting things to say.
“I’m not the same person I was,” she said. “I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.”
She is reading newspapers â The LA Times and the Wall Street Journal â and books like “The Secret,” “The Power of Now” and the Bible.
“God,” she said, “has released me.”
Read about it here.
[From me]
The cynic in me wants to say she is just trying to gain sympathy…but what if?
What do you think?

let us keep Paris in our prayers. She is as entitled to learn and convert to the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ as anyone. HE is not a respecter of persons, and HIS arms are open wide for her if she will but truly accept (following HIM with actions and not just lip service) the atonement of Jesus Christ.
was the ‘what if’ you are asking: what if Paris can read? I know I’m shocked too.
Bill,
I pray she does turn to God.
Stuart,

Kevin,
Why did you sign your name as “Stuart” on the last posting?
Bill,
I didn’t sign my name Stuart. I was telling my friend Stuart that he was being funny by putting a
Oooops…sorry Kevin.
Got it
I too had that I wonder moment when I heard BW say it. Of course there are different levels of finding God…at least the way people seem to talk about it. Even though I’ve heard so many stories from people who work in prison ministry, I’ve always questioned the truth in the changes. From Paris is does strike me as more of a publicity statement, but I’m for the “what if” of God making it true during these next two weeks.
If she has made a turn to God, then maybe some of her followers will understand the change in her. If she has made a change of focus, then she will likely loose media attention after sometime. If she has found God will be interesting to see how it impacts her company and relationships.
Bill’s right…we should pray for her.
My wife had been encouraging me to pray for Paris, because as my wife put it, “I feel sorry for her, she is probably lost and acts that way because that is how you expect lost people to act.” So, I was pleased to hear she had “found God.” But then I heard that some New Age guru was visiting her (hearsay) so it may be the wrong god she found.
This is less credible than a serial killer’s finding God?
Geekwad is probably correct in this instance, but doesn’t God desire that all sinners…even serial killers convert to HIM?
After all, it seems to have worked for the Apostle Paul.
Often times, one must get to their lowest point before they can look up to the light of truth.
Kevin S, I’m considered “lost”, too, and I would never dream of behaving like Paris Hilton. Such sweeping generalisations do nothing for the credibility of your professed faith.
That some Catholic priests have molested children doesn’t entitle us to brand the world’s
1 billion Catholics as paedophiles, does it?
We “lost” are as diversified as you believers are.
Francoise, you may not have liked the way my wife framed what she said, but I think you probably agree that people act in accord with their worldview. Surely, you would not deny that you act consistently with your worldview? The fact that those who are without Christ differ in their self-imposed moral standards and therefore act out their beliefs in a variety of ways, does not in any way exclude the premise that people who are without Christ act accordingly .
I would think that you would have a bigger problem with Christians who expect non-Christians to act like Christians, than you would with Christian who expect non-Christians to act like non-Christians.
I see. So I’m as lost as Paris, and you expect me to behave as she does -is that what you’re saying? My life is vastly different from hers.
No Francoise, please read my post again. You will have different self-imposed moral values than does someone else (in this case, Paris). So your actions will differ. You will act in accord with your own worldview.
However, as someone who does not follow Christ it would be weird to expect you to act as someone who is a follower of Christ.
I would not expect you to act contrary to your worldview. That would be hypocritical.
