Are you ready for the adventure?

Have you ever thought about why the church? Why did Christ die for the church? Why does He use the church to be his instrument to reach the world and to help believers grow? Well so did we. I often like to dissect and discover how things work and why they work the way they do.   So the next message series we are starting this Sunday is:
Are you ready for the Adventure?
Here are the topics for the next 7 weeks:
â¢Â        Why Church?
â¢Â        Why Evangelism?
â¢Â        Why Worship?
â¢Â        Why Membership?
â¢Â        Why Discipleship?
â¢Â        Why Ministry?
â¢Â        Why Missions?
Any input you have would be appreciated? What makes up a church? Who is the church? What reasons do you believe Jesus uses the church to transform the world?
Thanks in advance.

About once a year, our very youngest children’s choir (the 3-4 year olds) sing a song called, “I am the church.” The lyrics are: “I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together.”
I think that pretty much sums it up. The church is a community of God’s people in the world. It’s not bound by our individual preferences or denominational boundaries. We are the church together.
I see the Church as one, holy, catholic and apostolic. I understand it to be the Body of which Jesus Christ is the Head and into which all baptized persons are reborn as members. It also known as the People of God, the New Israel, a holy nation, a royal priesthood, and the pillar and ground of truth, etc. etc.
But then you did not ask what, you asked why. I know it may be a bit corny, but we are part of the Body of Christ to BE Christ to those in need, to reach out His hand to serve, to open His heart to love, and to minister to the world in His name. To do that we can be more effective by grouping ourselves together in larger associations (we call them Parishes), known as the local Church. It is a heavy responsibility that I fail at quite often. However I do believe it is the reason we have a thing in this world known as the Church
Sounds like a wonderful series…could I get a recording of your message after you’ve preached it?
When the church functions as it should there is nothing sweeter. A conduit for the love of God to flow through is what HE intended the church for.
The sweetness of the congregation of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis who loved my brother and his kids snd my whole family after his 34 y.o. wife died was astounding. That was 10 years ago. Never will I forget it.
