Breaking News–Food Lion Changed my life!

In January I wrote an open letter to 7-up requesting the put Splenda back into their Diet 7-up. Unfortunately they sent me back a response saying that wasn’t going to happen. I then went on a crusade to buy up all of the remaining Diet 7-up with Splenda in Charlotte. I had just about given up hope until yesterday when I went to the Food Lion near our church to see if they had any left. Unfortunately they did not. ![]()
But then, almost like the sky opened up I saw it–
Food Lion’s own Diet Limon Up with Splenda!
Hallelujah! I heard the heavenly chorus and I was so excited! But there is even greater news than Diet Limon Up.
Right next to it was Food Lion’s Diet Mountain Lion.
It was their version of Diet Mt. Dew and guess what—It has SPLENDA! I heard the heavenly band playing and there was great rejoicing! It is only$.79 per 2 liter! I have not been able to drink Diet Mt. Dew because of Aspartame since Cassandra begged me to stop in 2003.
I am so grateful for these little blessings! Now I can mix my Diet Mountain Lion with Orange Juice before 5:00 PM everyday and Diet Limon Up with OJ at night!

Kevin, we’ll have to do something about this drinking problem of yours
Honestly, everything that’s edible in the USA seems to have corn syrup and other yeckies in it. Have you read the label? Are you sure that you’re actually drinking any nutrients? Think about it- at 79c per TWO litres, it just has to be VERY, VERY suss.
I would seriously suggest laying off the diet muck ( which is mostly chemicals) and opting for nice, safe dihydrogen monoxide. That or plain, fresh fruit juices. If that isn’t feasible, then chug down some hooch, which is a lot safer than those Diet ( shudder) “drinks”.

Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
I agree with Francoise. I’m not sure what you really are putting in your body there, Kev. Remember, if God created it, or it’s just slightly processed by man, it’s in much better shape than something man created.
Why, thank you, from one future lawyer to a former one! Have you read my suggestions re water conservation and “The Little White Horse” on your blog yet?
Seriously, the food industry in USA is truly terrifying, and the low, low cost of that drink should alert Kevin that it’s BAAAAAAD stuff. Yerrrg! Gack!
Put it this way, Kevin, I would guess that you don’t smoke- am I correct? Have you ever read what’s actually in cigarettes? If you have, you’ll know what terrifying substances lurk within. Diet drinks, and, indeed, most soft drinks ( I think you call them “sodas” over there) are packed with lethal nasties. I suggest you investigate what’s on their labels, and ask a competent chemist to interpret for you. You’re in for a shock! Horrible, horrible stuff.
BTW, if any of you ever eat in the franchised “Outback Steakhouse”- take warning that it is NOT, repeat NOT Australian cuisine, as claimed. I pointed this out to the manager in a Modesto, “Outback”, who almost had a nervous breakdown, perhaps fearing that I would do that very American thing- sue for damages!! Hee hee. She begged and implored me not to tell the customers that what they wer eating had absoutely no relationship to my country’s food.
Over to you Kevin, for a comment. Forget Starbucks. Try “Illy’s” coffee and you’ll never look back. Beautiful brew.
